In 1930, Helen Fallis McGreevy, a Native American Sioux Indian, member of the Lower Brule tribe of South Dakota, and Emmett McGreevy, Sr., her husband, established Mid West Meat Company in an existing cold storage building in industrial downtown Wichita. Today the company is known as McGreevy’s Mid West Meat Company, located at 230 N. West St., in Wichita.
